Redwood Audio Unplugged!

Redwood Audio AC1

We are happy to announce our latest creation and first venture into the fully-acoustic world.  The Redwood Audio AC1 is a demonstration piece done to explore the beauty and challenge of acoustic guitar design.  Based on the lovely “orchestra models”, it has 14-frets free of the body which peaks at just over 4″ deep for a balanced tone and lively response.

The build of primarily hand-shaped Asian ebony, mahogany and a wonderful flamed-redwood soundboard was an exciting process with a bit of a steep learning curve – but the experience was rich and rewarding.  There is something about using fine hand-tools to gradually unlock the full potential from raw materials.  The results look and sound great!  We could not resist installing a Fishman Rare Earth Blend system for reinforcement, but the Model AC1 stands well on its own.  You can check it out along with our other instruments in our guitars section.

As always, if you have comments or ideas for a project you would like to share with us, please feel free contact us.  Otherwise, we wish you and yours a happy holidays and best in the New Year!

New Quality Assurance Co-Op!

At Redwood Audio we value the quality and craftsmanship of all things made.  If, like us, you enjoy exercising a critical eye for detail on projects large and small, have work you would like to see peer-reviewed or are interested in contributing behind the scenes as new ideas are fledged into the world – we hope you will consider joining our new Quality Assurance Co-Op!

Our goal is to bring together a formal community of experienced inventors, developers and testers for private collaborative reviews of each other’s projects at various stages in the development cycle.  The details of the program will evolve as the team is assembled and various interests assessed.  We hope to eventually include many experienced engineers, developers, test engineers, critical listeners, musicians, user-interface and experience experts, luthiers as well and technical writers.  All those jobs your company would fill if you had begun making your millions…  As we grow in numbers, it should prove very interesting for everyone involved!  Be sure to stay tuned for further developments.

New Wood Craft DIY Page!

The shop is a buzz this spring!  We have added a few additional notes to our JUCE VST tutorial and introduced a new Wood Craft section under the Do-It-Yourself topics.  The more exciting part for us is that the wood for our next project in stickered for final equalization before working.  This time around, we hope to capture more of the build process along the way and share some of our experience as tutorials in the new Wood Craft section.

Stay tuned for updates and as always, feel free to contact us with any thoughts you have while looking around our site.
