Happy and Inspiring New Year!

2014 is poised to be an exciting year for us with many new projects and endeavors already taking shape.  To start off the year on a creative note, we spent time in the studio and will soon be publishing some of our efforts as samples in the guitars section.  We have also been in touch with Paul Vo, inventor of the Vo-96 Acoustic Synthesizer – following a successful Kickstarter campaign last year,  our Luither kit is in the mail!  We will keep you posted on our process designing an electric guitar around this truly unique hardware – which based on early demos, we feel is set to unlock a new soundscape for guitars.  We have also ordered another similarly inspiring guitar invention, the “HammerJammer” from Big Walnut Productions.  While it has been out for some time, it is just now getting some of the attention it deserves and we look forward to incorporating the concept with some of our own.

Finally, by popular request, we have been providing some updates to our JUCE Tutorial and will be releasing additional tips for working in JUCE soon.  We thank you for all your feedback and interest in our tutorials and will be sure to keep growing that offering as well as prepare some of our in-house helper plugins for release to aid with your development.   We hope you always stay inspired and active on all your creative processes!  Feel free to contact us, if you build something you are interested in sharing or need help getting some ideas off the ground.

Trick-or-Treat!

CRC Electronic CleanerWe thought we would share our trick, but it can be such a treat to hear your favorite guitar come back to life.  There are many references out there to electronic connection cleaner – old AVRs, antique radios, etc. all can benefit from a treatment,  and a growing number of guitar sites are singing its praises – so here is another…  It was not until we were given an old Fender to fix up that we saw the full potential for guitar restoration.  This thing came in with non-functional tone controls, intermittent output (at only at the highest volume position), and grounding problems.  With a healthy application – everything was restored to be like new without even heating up a solder gun.  That experience earned the cleaner a permanent spot on our Electronics page.  If you have had a similar experience or additional tips/tricks to share, we would like to hear from you.  Happy Halloween from Redwood Audio!

New Quality Assurance Co-Op!

At Redwood Audio we value the quality and craftsmanship of all things made.  If, like us, you enjoy exercising a critical eye for detail on projects large and small, have work you would like to see peer-reviewed or are interested in contributing behind the scenes as new ideas are fledged into the world – we hope you will consider joining our new Quality Assurance Co-Op!

Our goal is to bring together a formal community of experienced inventors, developers and testers for private collaborative reviews of each other’s projects at various stages in the development cycle.  The details of the program will evolve as the team is assembled and various interests assessed.  We hope to eventually include many experienced engineers, developers, test engineers, critical listeners, musicians, user-interface and experience experts, luthiers as well and technical writers.  All those jobs your company would fill if you had begun making your millions…  As we grow in numbers, it should prove very interesting for everyone involved!  Be sure to stay tuned for further developments.
