Gears Turning in our Plugin Shop….

We have been delighted with the constant stream of interest in our plug-in development tutorial and are happy to say the gears are turning on that front!  Thanks to the most generous donation of a MacBook Pro, we will be able to begin including some updates related to OSX and XCode as well as other plugin types such as Audio Units.  Keep the questions coming so we know what is of most use to you!

StereoAnalyzer Spectrum Plot

In other news, we have been developing our first series of analysis plugins to help you with evaluating your own plugins or audio projects.  First up is a Stereo Analyzer which will include direct/relative spectrums, time, loudness and dynamic range metering.  The spectrum analysis portion is available as a beta VST – if you would like to assist in testing or request features, consider joining our Quality Assurance Co-Op.  Or if you would like to help support this work, please consider making a contribution of any kind to Redwood Audio.

As always, if you have any questions, feedback or ideas about what you see here, we would love to hear from you.  Just start the conversation through our contact form!

Happy and Inspiring New Year!

2014 is poised to be an exciting year for us with many new projects and endeavors already taking shape.  To start off the year on a creative note, we spent time in the studio and will soon be publishing some of our efforts as samples in the guitars section.  We have also been in touch with Paul Vo, inventor of the Vo-96 Acoustic Synthesizer – following a successful Kickstarter campaign last year,  our Luither kit is in the mail!  We will keep you posted on our process designing an electric guitar around this truly unique hardware – which based on early demos, we feel is set to unlock a new soundscape for guitars.  We have also ordered another similarly inspiring guitar invention, the “HammerJammer” from Big Walnut Productions.  While it has been out for some time, it is just now getting some of the attention it deserves and we look forward to incorporating the concept with some of our own.

Finally, by popular request, we have been providing some updates to our JUCE Tutorial and will be releasing additional tips for working in JUCE soon.  We thank you for all your feedback and interest in our tutorials and will be sure to keep growing that offering as well as prepare some of our in-house helper plugins for release to aid with your development.   We hope you always stay inspired and active on all your creative processes!  Feel free to contact us, if you build something you are interested in sharing or need help getting some ideas off the ground.

Updated VST Tutorial!

VST LogoAs Promised, we have updated our JUCE Tutorial for VST Development to follow the new JUCE workflow.  For beginners, the tutorial provides source code and a walk-through of a basic plugin with external DSP code.  Unlike other tutorials which focus on the many wonderful features of JUCE, the goal here is getting you up and going with a solid VST plugin and useful plumbing – letting you focus on designing the DSP effect you set out to create.  When it sounds great, we encourage you to dive in to the many advanced graphics and UI features available through JUCE.

For intermediate and some advanced users, there is a quick project summary page for kicking off new projects and a collection of tips.  While there are many ways to do this, the methods shown represent ways we have found to streamline the process, keep the DSP modular and parameters list easy to maintain.  If you have your own tips you think we should include, we would love to hear from you!  – simply Contact Us and we will share the wealth.
